How I was born from the love to the Polish countryside and folk culture. In its designs, How I uses, among others, perebory – ornaments woven on hand looms, specific to the Lublin region in eastern Poland – which are innovatively developed by the artist in order to create meaningful and culturally relevant fashion.

 The inspiration for the brand’s name was the founder’s family name – Hałaj – written in its English orthographic transcription. The “I” in “How I” is a reference to the individual character of the clothes made by the brand; the “how” is a reference to the brand’s policy of paying scrupulous attention to every detail in their making.
