Monika Trypuz

Monika Trypuz (working as How I) is a visual artist whose work combines mathematics, printmaking, and Polish folk culture. Her pseudonym is a universal version of her ancestral surname Hałaj—a personal tribute to her roots and grandmother, who instilled in her a love for rural tradition. Her primary medium and language of expression is traditional interwoven textile (in particular the perebor weave), through which she explores rhythm, matter, and the traces of past generations. Translating the heritage of eastern Poland into a contemporary artistic language, she confronts archaic matter with digital rigor, creating a space for focusing on the present moment and building a network of human understanding.
